How Finale recognizes piano track as a piano track

I am using Finale 2008 with Garritan Steinway (notation) with KP2 VST. (Pen 4 2.2GHz, Win XP, 2GB RAM)

How does Finale (2008) distinguish a piano track from others like a flute track? Apparently, piano track's dynamics should be controlled by velocity and other instruments like violin or flute should be by some cc#. I wonder how this issue is dealt with the notation program.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

It used to be Staff name and Instrument name (with HP on) - probably still is. With F07+ you can also define HP's behaviour explicitly in the Techniques section of HP Preferences.

Nickie, thank you for the information. I now understand the "trick".
