As promised, recordings from my recital.

    Hello all

As was promised, I have some recordings from my Graduate Recital from 2 weeks ago. (I was going to post them into the same thread, but it disappeared). All of these are live of course, All composed by me and All of them began life as GPO realizations (most of them having been posted to the listening room at some point). The only thing that is not here that was played on the recital, was a solo guitar piece, that did not begin life as a GPO realization.

Nothing between me and my Master's at this point. By Dec. 7th that will be Matthew Scott Phillips M.M. to you! Now onto Doctoral study

    Here they are:

    Introspection (Karen Bentley Pollick, Violin)

Congratulations soon-to-be Master of Mus. Matt
    Welcome to the club.

I'm sure all will go as wonderfully for the "judging" part as for the concert.

Oh sure, it already has. Although they told my girlfreind they were going to give me a Master's; not me.

That's funny. I bet it is a rule they can't tell you so they told her instead.

    Congrats Matt M.M.

The music sounds great, i love the piano in Circles of Misunderstanding. All the players sounded great. Craig Hultgren sure plays a killer cello, a few notes sounded as though he was playing with only one horsehair, where have i heard that before, Shostakovich?

    Welcome to the club, Matt:

Your compositional skills are impressive and show
that you have studied your craft diligently. Really
    fine work here, Matt.

Also, I must say that your recital was excellent and, if you have
the chance, please extend my kudos to ALL of the
players. They were magnificent, especially the string
    quartet.

Congratulations on your M.M. degree. Now, rest a little
before the next mountain to climb........lol

    BRAVO, Matt

Yeah, the String Quartets were the big hit of the night. Although my personal favorite was probably Circles... It was the most challenging to write.

    Hi Matt,

I went back to your presentation, intrigued as I was at the first visit.
I played several works more than once and here is my outcome:

Introspection -> superb and Karen Bentley Pollick is a great violinst!!!
Circles of Misunderstanding -> great piece, but a pity that the cello sometimes disappeared -> recording wasn't good enough
String Quartet, I loved the Phrygian more than the Dorian.

About that song, forgive me, I don't know what to say. Not familiar with female singers.

No wonder you graduated (is that the right word). You make wonderful beautiful music.

Hi (soon to be) MM Matt. I took a quick listen to these selections of these and really liked what I heard. The writing was great and the musicians all excellent. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back and have a more thorough listen sometime this weekend. Thanks for posting this.
