I thought it would be kinda cool take a youtube trip up North where they have snow for Christmas and outstanding choir music. I was going to post this on Christmas but i couldn't wait that long, because the first two are amazing, i hope you enjoy. Post more if you have some links.

    Wow.

I have just listened to the St Petersburg Chamber Choir. The music is beautiful. The bass is *really* impressive.

    Thanks for this

    Cheers...

You're welcome Daz and Ben, glad you enjoyed that extraordinary profundo as much as i did.

I agree, bring it on, can't wait to try my hand at this choral composition and to try to render some Chesnokov.

While clicking on those other links to the Russian stuff, i found this, amazing chimes. I would love to have samples of those chimes they are playing. Don't know if those would be impossible to find anywhere, Gary would maybe have to go to Moscow, and then have to talk those guys into letting the chimes get sampled.

Those are great, Coqui, now i know what to do with the wood i was saving. The video on the side, of the inventer playing one, sounds like a conversation of aliens.

Here is one that goes well with the first set, lot's of snow, orchestral not choral, and there is a nice surprise in it for the kids.

    Those are some big elves.

Wow, check out this young girl from Sweden, Isabella Lundgren, only 19,

not yet world famous, but the quality of her voice and that she is apparently discovered now, singing with Nils, tells me she is probably soon to be world famous.

Does anyone here know what is the name of that song??

We should pray for her, that she stays comfortably in Sweden and does not become harrased by papparizzis or fall into bad crowds, if she was my kid, i would be so happy for her and proud, but also very concerned.

Thanks for the Sibelius Finlandia video link.
Staying in the International vien, I think the Lloyd Stone lyrics put to the Finladia Hymn section are one of my favorites:

    ...This is my home, the country where my heart is;
Here are my hopes, my dreams, my sacred shrine.
But other hearts in other lands are beating,
With hopes and dreams as true and high as mine.

My country's skies are bluer than the ocean,
And sunlight beams on cloverleaf and pine.
But other lands have sunlight too and clover,
And skies are everywhere as blue as mine...

Thanks, those are beautiful lyrics. I didn't know there were as many. I was familiar with the original words given when it became Finland's National Anthem, and two hymns, Be still My Soul which is probably the most well known here, and another i don't know the name but is more recent.

This page lists the national anthem and the one you mentioned, and few more.
