    Declaration For The New Year

Woodwind sextet redo from April '06. I never was able to get this played. It
seems to be "worthy" to me. What do you think?

Musically, I see no reason not to love this piece

I particularly like the little 16th note descending runs (a little after 1 minute in), and the lovely chorale-like horn theme.

However, the recording is a bit "dry" for my taste. I'd have liked just a tiny bit more reverb... as is, it sounds like the musicians are sitting on my desk in my office. NOT the best accoustics.

    Thanks for listening, Michel.
I will be working on this piece for awhile, so I will re-broadcast soon.

Happy New Year a bit early, Gary.

I should think this piece would be quite "accessble"
and of interest to suitable ensembles; not overly
demanding, a pleasing aspect -- the kind of work that
an audience can appreciate and enjoy...

With Michel, again, the recoding is perhaps a bit dry.

    My best,

    Hi, Gary

I'm glad you have such good composers here enjoying your piece - Michel and David. That must be gratifying!

And I know "Declarations" would suit me well when my mind is in a meandering mood. I could probably get into that space easily if I listened to the piece over again - wwiiiiiinding around with no destination and never tarrying at a stop. Restless, and images evaporating before they're formed.

--Reverb - Ooh, I thought you had that issue solved, Gary. It seems to have disappeared again. sigh.

    Thanks for listening, Randy.
    I guess I am audio-challenged.......

    ps
I will probably be giving short replies in the next week or so. I have to use 1 finger for typing. I had an operation on my left arm for lumbar compression.
