South Rampart Street [JABB + Live]

    Hi

Apparently I "haven't posted on the forum for several weeks".....

So here is another of my "Big Band Brass" tracks featuring the JABB rhythm section, and live multitracked trumpets, trombones, bass trumpets and bass trombones playing a big band score:

    South Rampart Street Parade

It's intended to sound a little rough around the edges!

    Credits:
    Composed - Balduc/Haggart/Allen
    Arranged - Bob Lowden
    All instruments - Richard N.

Re: South Rampart Street [JABB + Live]

This was fun. Many years ago I played trumpet on this (different arrangement). So, the rhythm section is JABB and the brass is all live? Sounds great even if a “little rough around the edges”! I'd never be able to tell some instruments were virtual while others live. Some of the brass, though, has to be live!

I lit up when I saw you've posted another one of your JABB/Live hybrid projects, Richard.

Fantastic - "rough edges" and all.

Trent, go back and catch his other tracks from this project. He's playing all the brass live, and using JABB for the rhythm section. Great isn't it?? Yeah!

Nice work. I think the 'rough edges' is what makes the work shine. Few would be able to pick out the live from the GPO.

    Well done

You've created a great brass sound and a good swinging rhythm.

Did you input the drums with a keyboard.

    Thanks guys,

This project has been a blast - I've learned loads since starting it, and had great fun too.

Phil - yes the drums were input on keyboard, typically in three passes - the basic cymbals first then the snare and bass drum, and finally the fills.

I appreciate you all taling the time to listen and comment.

    Cheers,

    Richard N.

    Hi Richard,

What a fun tune! It made me smile listening to it. Very nicely done.
    I hope to hear more.
