Thank you, Jun, for listening and the kind words.

A little piece, and mostly for fun!

On occasion, I do use ostinato-like structures; for
instance, Lucifer and Gandhi -- a similar technique,
    though carried further.

Thanks, Michael. I do wish there was a good solution to
getting more clarity, though -- but... the limits of screen
resolution when presented at any reasonable size seem
    to be an insurmountable obstacle.

"Quarks" seems to be such the balancing act from the lush to the clanking.
An unpredictable story when first read ...
The progress from what seems sensible at first glance
to the point much later when you realize that what
physics proposes touches the edges of madness... lol.

A good excursion piece to relax; perhaps to prepare for more profound topics in the near future?
    Stay tuned.

    Totally enjoyed the playfulness!

    Shows much diversity ...

Many thanks for the good word, Michael; pleased you
    enjoyed it!

My heavens, William, I think you've succeeded in providing
us the entire, complete, unabridged, comprehensive lexicon
    of quantum physics... rofl!

Rumor has it you're looking to this bizarre world for a bit of
    inspiration yourself...?

    Thanks for listening, my friend.

Thumbs up Re: QUARKS - Symphony Orchestra (Sosnowski)

Your attitude to find inspiration in almost every natural and intellectual side of the world drive me crazy.

I should be happy owning just a fraction of your energy and enthusiasm.

And again it's not only the inspiration starting point, but even the result, being amazing.

Thanks, Danny, but I sure hope people don't take to
emulating some of my orchestrative stunts. R-K'll rise
from his grave and come after them with a bludgeon...
lol. Why, just the other night, there he was in my
studio -- I barely escaped with my life.

And as for the similarity of your photo to Shostakovich: I can definitely see it, along with a distinct resemblance to Alan Alda (as Hawkeye Pierce in M*A*S*H).
Alan often mentions that his success as an actor is
entirely based on how much he looks like me.

    Hence: David Shostahawknovski

    Danny
LOL... you know, my name, Sosnowski, was actually
shortened when my grandfather came here. The real
spelling is, you ready for this -- ?

    Sczocsnoivieweskii

That's pronounced "Smith", by the way.

Thanks for listening and the kind words, Jack. As far as the
somewhat lighter fare, don't despair, I'll get over it, soon, I'm
    sure... rofl.

Seriously? I guess that's what they call "style", Jack... those
certain characteristic traits, processes, methods, peculiar to
each writer. Though I can probably write in a great many
different "styles" ably enough if I have to -- that's just where
I'm most comfortable, what comes most naturally to me,
whether a larger more serious work, or a small piece of fluff
    like this little one.

I particularly enjoyed following it on the animated score. One question: it looks like manuscript. Does that mean that you commit it to paper before putting on the computer ? And would this generally be the way you work with Finale ?

    Best regards,

    Jack
The output you see in the animated score is from Finale, Jack.

As for my writing process, it's always been the same. I complete
    a piece entirely in my head, usually while out walking in the woods;
and then only subsequently transcribe to "paper".

Real "paper" I haven't used in some years, though. And I miss it.

ROFL! You just can't help yourself, can you Randy?
My friend, there's only one way to live... if you're
going to do something, go straight over the top of
it. And we're about equally bad about that, so all
I can do is laugh... lol.

What can I tell ya. When I get excited by music, and that's several times every hour, I sometimes just have to sound like ---a press agent!

Nodding in appreciation to "And Light" - the Forum's own answer to Shostakovich.

    Quarky, too.

Thanks, Jamie! I think it bears repeating that this was
strictly for fun -- sure, there's some structure to it, and
motivic organization, and all the usual good stuff. But --
it's very much a sort of spur of the moment impression,
an image, the gestalt reflection of what comes to mind
when I think about something like this.

    In short, an improvisation.

I was struck by the flow in this piece. It seems like stream of conciousness, but a more directed stream. Listening to it is a bit like sitting and contemplating the weirdness of quantum physics. One moment, your brain latches onto something, and you "understand" it deeply... then the next moment your brain turns inside-out, and suddenly you "un-understand" it.
Now there's a description of quantum physics I wish I'd
written. I've been reading on this for decades, and I have
the disturbing sense that the only thing I know about it is
what I don't know -- which, alas, seems to be everything.

Most of the usual Sosnowski trademarks are in place: the shimmering woodwinds, the bendy trumpet, the stammering percussion with its nervous clattering cymbals, and the expansive romantic strings. Yet its all going somewhere new, and I'm utterly fascinated by it.

Lovely work, my friend. I have to go check out the animated score now.
Thanks again, my friend. I've been surprised this little
piece took much notice; but I guess it's proof that good
things can come in small packages. Or even really, really,
    really small packages... lol.

Re: QUARKS - Symphony Orchestra (Sosnowski)

The effects of the low woodwinds was a real delight. I also liked the indecision or rather juxtaposition between writing a serious work and a humorous one. I'm also perplexed because my first impression is an urban one.

I'm beginning to appreciate the vast pitch expanse available in the modern orchestra. You exploit it so naturally I've not noticed before. I really crave this at the moment. But I also crave a much longer work. You're such a tease!

PS Did I notice a "quantum leap" in the reverb used? Please tell (I confess, I did not read any of the thread so far - it's music night).

    How have you been?
Hi Paul, and Merry Christmas! Great to see you here,
I know this is a very busy time for you with school.

How's it been going, by the way? I know we'd all like
to hear. Fill us all in when things slow down a little
    for you.

I appreciate the kind words, my friend! I wouldn't
read to much into this one, though... just for fun, as
    I said.
