    A Double Woodwind Quintet-3 Pieces

    A redo of a piece from '06.
It's amazing (& sometimes painful) to return to earlier workss. In this I made adjustments and hopefully improved it,

Gary, I meant to reply to this the other day.

This piece has what I find to be very engaging splashes of energy in it. I think it has to be one of your most successful renderings, and the composition has more of a natural flow to it than is sometimes the case.

Wow - technical note - So surprised to hear how Much reverb you have on this. You've had so many posts that were totally devoid of reverb, now here's this one so definitely placed in a very ambient room- It took me by surprise. Sounds very nice!

This is a wonderful piece. A touch too much reverb for my taste, but that really doesn't matter much.

Fortunately (or perhaps not), most of my works in 2006 were composed using notepad, and I now use sibelius. So I have little worries about going back and trying to redo them.

    Well Done

    Thanks for listening, Randy.
Again, positive feedbacks are like gold.
This piece probably counted for a few hundred hours of write, delete, add, subtract. Going back after a long absence gave me the freedom I needed to delete unneeded lines.

    Hi Ron, thanks for listening.
Have you tried to copy from the notepad and paste to Sibelius?
It might work if you copy small segments.
    Gary
    p.s.
Then, of course, you might not want to do so...

Last year when I first got sibelius, I was able to use a friends full copy of finale to get my big pieces into midis and then into sib. I might try what you said for the rest though.

    Thanks

Gary! This is, by heaven, delicious!

After all the tribulations you've had getting a good sound
going, I wish I could come over there and give you a clap
    on the back, in person.

Loved it! Writing, rendering, the whole shooting match!
Good strong work, a fine piece, and a pleasure to the ear!

    With applause,

Thanks for listening and for the nice compliments, David.
Do you suppose there's a double woodwind quintet interested in playing it?

    That I couldn't tell you.

But I do like the piece, and think it handsomely
    merits performance.

The best advice I can give you is, get a good,
clean score together, and ship it out anywhere
    that looks promising.

Ready sources of very, very inexpensive
    commercial-grade printing include www.LuLu.com
(which I use) and also www.CreateSpace.com (whom
Jamie Kowalski recently recommended to me).

I'd start there, Gary. Having finished, professional
score on hand is the first necessary step.

    My best,

Thanks for the info David. I have assumed that having an accurate Finale score would be enough. It's good to know what the goal needs to be.
