    Through the Years

Here is an arrangement of a song a friend of mine needs this January. He wanted it for string quartet and voice. I's a beautiful oldie from the 1930's called:

    Through The Years

I hope you enjoy. It was written in Finale and rendered in Sonar Home Studio 6. The vocal sound is the Magnus Choral sample and the strings are Garritan from Finale.

    Hi, Bill

Very pretty arrangement. Subtle use of the choir, which I appreciated, rather than having it more forward where its shortcomings would be more obvious.

Is your friend singing a vocal to this in a live performance?

Nice change of pace for you, and I enjoyed hearing it--Thanks!

Now you're getting into the music I know. A collabration of Edward Heyman(lyrics) and Vincent Youmans(music,) from the 1932 production of THROUGH THE YEARS.
A very nostalgic touch that really took me back.

No actually he will be playing the cello of which he is a most accomplished musician.

Thanks for the comments as usual. I put the choir back for 2 reasons: 1) so he could hear the string parts and 2) for the very reason you stated. I think it works pretty well that way.

You are right a very nostalgic and wonderful musical from Heyman and Youmans which many people do not know. Thanks for the listen.

It sounds nice. I'm not sure if I've heard it before.

This is the music my parents grew up on. They use to sing Nelson Eddy & Jeanette MacDonald songs as we drove to Seattle to visit relatives.

My brothers and I just had to put up with it.

Not exactly my type of music, but you seem to have done a very good job of putting it together.

I used to drive from Cleveland a lot and get on the pike there in Lorain. I was born in Akron, so I am a fellow Buckeye and will be watching the coming game with a lot of interest.

    Well done

Lovely arrangement, Bill; very well done!

There are quite a few gems from the 30's, little heard
today; and this is surely one of them.

Any chance we'll get to hear a recording of the live
performance of this... would love to hear it!

    All my best,
