Saying 'Hello' for the First Time

A big 'hello' to everyone out there! I just signed up, and I plan to grab a copy of Garritan Personal Orchestra very soon. First, I'll introduce myself.

I am a 28-year-old technology specialist at my local public broadcasting station. Growing up, I was always interested and participating in music and writing, and I started playing acoustic guitar at 14 (mostly self-taught). After a certain point I put my creative side on the shelf as I pursued what I believed at the time was a more practical field of computers and technology. However I never stopped trying to play, write, or compose in my spare time, dreaming of the day I could make this far-fetched passion into somehting more than a dream.

Over the last few years - and more in recent months - I made a friend in my workplace who was a classical aficionado. She asked me recently: "What would your perfect day be like?" I think there are several scenarios that came to mind, but the first thing that I said was "to sit down in front of a stage and watch a symphony play a piece that I wrote." From that point, I've really awakened myself to the fact that I should make a serious effort into putting my creative ideas to work, and see what I can do.

My hope is to achieve a dream born in my mind. For now, it's still in the mind, and the road ahead is long. With time and determination, I hope to bring it out, and share it with everyone.

That's my story. I hope to meet a lot of people here and eventually become a part of what has been (and still is) a great musical community.
