    Hannes plays Vivaldi on STRAD

    Hi,

as a first try to get a grasp on the Garritan Strad I had the opportunity to get a great orchestra accompagnement track of Vivaldi's Winter by our forum member Roberto Soggetti (oldbob). I will probably host this version for a few days seeking for first comments and advice. Have fun!

    [EDIT]Version with smoother trills:

    Hiya Hannes,

The strad is fun to play, eh? I like what you've done with the dynamics and phrasing. I think the trills could be smoothed a little bit with some midi roll editing or rerecording, but it is very enjoyable to listen to!

Kudos to Roberto's backing track too.

    Best,
    Reegs

    Hi Reegs,

thank you for listening and especially for your hint. I discovered the G# keyswitch and made the trills a little less bumpy. One is still a little rough, maybe I find out how to avoid this.

Yes, the Strad has a trill patch hidden under the G#1 key. The idea is that you keep pressing one note and play+release a second, and the instrument will automatically follow to the second and return.

C1 lets it return to normal mode then.

Keep on rocking, Raymond, errr ... fiddling

    Hannes

A lot of new posts here lately with Strads and Grofs. I wish I would have been rich enough to afford them, but alas as a poor person, I could not.

You seem to have a good grasp already of how to use it.

    Well done

Very nice, Hannes - Great backing track of course. And I'm glad you found the trill keyswitch, rather essential to use that, otherwise trills are unrealistic.

Page 30 of the manual has a diagram listing all the keyswitches- an excellent thing to keep close at hand as you work.

I am rather sure this is the first time I've seen you posting something in The Listening Room!--You're certainly a regular in General Discussion, and leave helpful hints on the tech boards - Great to see you here, Hannes!

Read the PM and answered. Yes, the strings, nuts and bolts, bridge, neckpiece, almost everything (speaking in terms of violins) that makes my "sound" must rest or get a replacement (just joking).

So, guys don't worry. I still have two hand, two eyes, etc.... to watch/listen your compositions and reproduce some noise myself.
