Outrun, the old game music revisited for a trio

did someone remember about "OUTRUN", the old car game?
i played it on Commodore 64 and loved its music.

i am working on this remix, in which i revisited the theme for a string trio (GPO violin, viola, cello)

    http://www.alchemystudio.it/docs/Bos...run(take1).mp3

the parts have still to be optimized and i need an intro, but i like the general flavour of the piece.
i have to admit that i have almost all improvised it part by part on my keyboard, having a general idea in mind, and then editing the notes on the piano roll/staff of sonar 6... i didnt write the tune on the paper!

    what do you think???

if you are interested in other old commodore 64 remix, there is a site dedicated to this underground scene:

Nice! Really wasnt expecting something this slow, as the only version Ive heard of this music is a remix for outrun 2 (pumping bass etc), so this came as a really nice surprise! and all from ear as well? good effort!

not sure it needs an intro. Quite like the immediate statement of the theme!

Really cool! But wasn't Outrun for the SEGA system?

    Good stuff!

Outrun was originally Sega, but was definitely ported to C64, Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, Commodore Amiga, Atari ST, PC etc.

The instruments are very skilfully handled. I really nice realization of the tune. I enjoyed it very much.

-This is fun - I have a bit more free time today to catch up on postings here in The Listening Room, and having a great time.

bosone, I had no idea what to expect because I've never been into video games, so have no idea what that game is or what its music sounded like. Interesting source of music to work with.

And this sounds really nice, beautiful even. Good work!

thanks for listening and for your comments! :-)
actually, i like the arrangemente very much, and one reason is that it is very very different from the original "feeling" of the tune!

if you want to listent to a "rock" version, download this, recorded by the band "press play on tape":

    Bosone

I just listened to the Rock Version and was surprised that this incorporates itself both ways.

Your Orchestration of this was very good.

    Well done

    I can't say I remember (or probably ever saw/heard)
the game... but the music is lovely!

Very well handled and rendered, in this -- a little
"optimization" as you say, and this will really shine,
    Bosone!

    My best,
