Song in Romantic style for Oboe and Piano

    Hi, at

    http://www.gerdprengel.de/song_in%20Romantic_style.mp3

I'd like to present you a song which I wrote in the style of the German Romantic. The singing voice here is represented by an oboe. I hope you like it.
With this song I wanted to express my love for Franz Schubert.

Thumbs up Re: Song in Romantic style for Oboe and Piano

    It's fantastic!! Welcome Gerd!

Darmstadt, what a beautiful city to be posting such beautiful music from.

This is just personal preference probably, i thought it would be better for the oboe to be little bit softer arround two thirds of the way through where it the tempo slowed, but overall i loved the melody and the piano, great music!!

A very nice piano, oboe piece.

I agree with Leaf about maybe varying the dynamics to break things up a little.

I'm glad you like it! I used just the GPO Steinway piano and the "Oboe Modern Solo"

    Hello, gprengel

I'm pretty sure this is your first posting in The Listening Room--? I'm very glad to see you here.

I enjoyed listening to your piece very much. You said you wanted to express your love for Franz Schubert's music, and I think more than that, you've expressed your love for music in general. Very nice - Thank you for it.

Lovely piece -- the constant arpeggios in the piano certainly give it a 'Gretchen at the Spinning Wheel' feel. Though the harmonic language mixes more modernish harmonies -- a bit Americana sounding to me at times

Glad to hear some music coming out of Darmstadt which doesn't require a PhD to enjoy -- nothing against Boulez, Stockhausen, etc

A lovely piece, Gerd, and very handsomely
constructed, as well. The echoes of Schubert's
songs are well found here, with the clear,
    forthright melody of the oboe.

    Much enjoyed!

    My best,

Great stuff here - Piano is excellent! Your passion and joy for Schubert is certainly coming through. I would love to hear this with a real oboe.

    Thanks for sharing!
