Debussy - Arabesque No. 2 for sax quartet using CMB

    A few months ago I posted the transcription of the Debussy "Arabesque No. 1" as set for saxophone quartet. I have just completed transcribing the "Arabesque No. 2" for my saxophone quartet friends (SATB). Here it is rendered using Finale 2008 and the CMB library;

For those of you who did not visit the previous posting here is the "Arabeque No. 1" set for saxophone quartet.

Another beauty, Gary... seems like you're single-handedly
creating a whole new repertoire for the sax/4. Craftsmanly
    work on the adaptation.

I should think you'd be readily able to create some interest
in a live group doing a commercial CD of some of this recent
    work!

    My best,

    David,

Thanks for your kind comments. That Arabesque is not so obvious as a transcription goes. But the results are excellent as you pointed out. And yes, I hope that I can get a CD out of these saxophone transcriptions.

    Hello again, Gary

You just keep 'em comin', and I'm lovin' it.

I agree with your own assessment that, "...the results are excellent..."

This is another great arrangement for the saxes. As David said, I'm sure you could find interested sax players for your creations.

You also are one of the few that prove you can do this thru a notation program only.

    Well done

This post almost slipped by my bleary eyes, Gary...

But I caught it, and -- no surprise -- it sounded just great! You also had a real warm concert hall sound to your rendering on this. Very nice! I love soprano sax on "legit" stuff, and you certainly have acquired the knack for making it shine in that role. The recurring sixteenth triplet motif the soprano had in this --just simply cool! Loved all of it! As David S. suggested, I think you've put together enough material for a Gary Bricault sax quartet CD (album? download? whatever we call it now). Thanks for posting all this great sax stuff -- and arranging it so musically for us to enjoy.

Thanks Randy. Been getting some good material to work with. And of course the quartet is great to work with. More to come.

Thanks Ron. The Washington Sax Quartet reads all my pieces and has performed several to date. The notation part is critical in producing saleable materials for publishing. The GPO libraries make the rendering possible and relatively easy once the hard work of entering the music is completed.

    Danny,

I appreciate your kind comments. The CMB soprano sax is pretty nice. The triplet pattern is nice but a lot of work to enter in Finale. The outcome however is really lovely. The reedy saxes against the organ registered with flute stops is a fine contrast.

I am hoping that the quartet will make a CD in the near future containing some of my arrangements. They are performing one of my Bach fugue arrangements at Wolftrap next month. I am planning to attend the concert.

I've listened to this a few times. Debussy and saxes make for an exotic listening experience.

I'm sure Mr Sax would smile hearing this.
