    Happy Groundhogs Day

    Groundhog Day

Today is Groundhog Day! -- a major holiday in the U.S.

It's overcast here on Orcas, so it seems like spring is just around the corner.

How are you celebrating the day? Whatever you do, please make sure that the celebrations are appropriate.

Well - considering how *wrong* the Jet Propulsion Lab was in guess-timating the amount of rainfall we'd see during the "rainy season" in Southern California, I think a groundhog is as valid an indicator as the most sophisticated computers.

Since prairie dogs and chipmunks are celebrating this holiday as well, should the name be more inclusive?

Of course! We don't want to discriminate against other rodents and be all inclusive:

    Happy Rascally Rainbow Rodent Day!

Here the groundhogs saw their shadow, so i guess this means we'll have another six weeks of those little bastards digging up the yard.
