    Irish Reel

    Band arrangement by G Woolfenden of Benjamin Britten's IRISH REEL.
    A great piece I never heard about. More Bands able to play Level IV should program this piece.

    I've never heard one quite like that. It's very interesting.

    I don't recall ever hearing this before. Britten, you say?

    Thanks for listening Phil and David.
    This was written in 1936 as title music for a movie,
    "Around the Village Green."
    I did this as a study of Britten's use of thinner texture to achieve greater clarity. This was written eight years before his popular opera, PETER GRIMES.
