Hey everyone! I wasn't sure whether to post this in the listening room or here, but I figured, since I'd already posted both of these songs in the listening room, I'd ask here.
Alright, I saw a notice at my school (University of West Georgia) for a percussion ensemble composition contest. I can enter more than once, but I really can't afford two entrance fees right now, so I need your help choosing which one to submit. The contest is sponsored by LSU and the winner receives $300 plus gets his/her piece performed. 2nd and 3rd get $150 and $100 dollars respectively. Admission fee is $35 and the deadline is sometime in March if your interested in entering; I'm sure you can get the full details online somewhere as I don't have them with me.
So, I've narrowed it down to 2 ensembles I've recently composed that meets the 3-10 person guideline as well as the instrumentation recommendations. What I don't have is a decision on which one to submit! I'd greatly appreciate it if you could help me, as I don't really know what sorts of percussion ensembles LSU would be most interested in. Thanks!
I've listened to both pieces and I think they are both worthy entries. Send me a PM and I'll help you out with your entry fee problem.
