The American Republican Grand March & Trio

A march dedicated to the Republican Convention of 1844. (Done in a historical sense-not as an endorsement)
    Composed by Alexander Kyle.

One wonders if the political dance of the day was
less fracas and more civility -- the music involved
is certainly less driven than at present... lol.

Thanks for bringing along this bit of history, Gary.
Alexander Kyle is not a name with which I am
    familiar.

    Gary:

Really sounds like the 1840s music would. They were
hard times and music like this would "liven" up most
any place where it was heard.

Kind of reflective and moving. Shows what two voices
    can do when proplerly engineered.

Re: The American Republican Grand March & Trio

Maybe the Republicans can play this at the upcoming convention - John McCain might remember it. I really like the little “Yankee Doodle” in there as part of the trio. A few repeated notes to try to hide it a little…

    An interesting little history lesson.

    Gary,

Nice timely presentation of this classic 1840 era march. You are definately making headway on the realization of sounds from the libraries. The ambience makes it sound much more realistic. Thanks for sharing it here.

    Thanks for listening, David.

Actually, the Civil War was only slightly more disturbing than our current
    arena of politics.
    Thanks for listening, Jack.
My aim is to be genuine in presenting songs from earlier periods, however
I did use FR horns and a light modern instrumentation.

    Thanks for listening, Ted.

Re: The American Republican Grand March & Trio

Thanks for listening, Trent & Gary.
Trent, I bet Yankee Doodle was repeated so many times between the Revolutionary War & the Civil War people sang in their sleep.

John's one attempt to sing at a rally would make one surmise that he would be better as a listener.....

We keep working to improve, Gary.

At least the music doesn't sound political. In fact, it sounds very good.

The Political season has really just started and I am already sick of it. I wish they could all lose!!

Personally, I would like to see a lottery take place for all public offices. Or if we wish to continue as we do, make it a lottery like the famous short story. The winners can take their prize quickly and be stoned at will.

    Well done
