    Mattilda Goes Walking

A version from my earlier work written with the Middle School Band in mind.

    Thanks for listening, David.
I think I've gotten the idea about reverb and altering melodic lines with detailed dynamics.

How cute is this. I can picture all the little kids playing their instruments. How cute. The piece is very adorably written.

    Thanks for listening, Tubajed.
Pieces which appeal to younger players are melodic with supporting
sounds and rhythm. Too often, music written for †his level has all instruments playing all of †he †ime.

As a future Middle School teacher I am happy to see that others are composing for these kids. Often times the music that is chosen is beyond the capabilities of just a few in the band and the resulting outcome does not sound as good as most of the players are.

This sounds as if the outcome would more truly reflect the abilities of the band members.

    Well done

    Thanks for listening, Ron.
After 36 years of teaching Band, the most important goal for students is playing music where the kids feel a reward for playing it.
Unlike some people think, Students would like playing good music better than poorly written pop.
Picking well written pop can be a good motivator, but the key word is well written.
