Just curious if anybody has any ideas of how one (myself) could learn the ins and outs of sampling with Kontakt. The manual itself doesn't seem to be teaching me all I need to know. How might one become an expert?
Get your hands dirty and maybe take a look at Kevin Tweedy's K2 Tutorial. It will be (partly?) relevant to K3 as well. An alternative to this tutorial might be the Kontakt 2 Tutorial DVD. This is not a recommendation, as I haven't watched it myself - merely a suggestion.
I can highly recommend the K2 video. No it's not particulary 'deep', but what it -is- is an overview of all that K2 can do. And let me tell ya, that covers ---------so------- much ground that it's worth 30-40 clams just to get the -breadth- of the product. Really makes you want to dive into it... whereas before I watched it I was a bit overwhelmed to try.
