"The Brasses Are Coming...The Brasses Are Coming!"

    Y'all All,

I just finished writing "The Brasses Are Coming...The Brasses Are Coming" for trumpets, "French" horns, 'bones and one tuba. The instruments are from the GPO and Kontakt 3 sample libraries.

    My best to everyone,

    Larry

That's a nice concert band piece for brass. Some interesting changes in it structurally and style wise.

A fine use of the Garritan CaMB library.

    Thanks, Mr. Phil.

I thought that no one was going to respond to it but you came through. I appreciate that.

    Hi Larry,

Well, let's start with... great last chord!!

And the rest of it ain't none too bad, either, Mr. Larry! Definitely some very impressive sonorities happening all through this, particularly in the beginning and closing sections. Expressive, majestic writing in those legato sections really made this piece special. I also enjoyed the "now-expected-unexpected" harmonic twists and turns that uniquely identify it as an "Alexander Special". My last listen before lights out for the night -- off to bed with a smile on my face! Great job, Larry!

Thanks a lot, Mr. Danny. Praise from you means much to me.

If I really knew what I was doing, I would scare myself.

I wonder why the overall response to this work has been so poor?

    My best,

    Larry

Very nice work on this, Larry, with some truly expressive
brass writing... and, it seems to me, much more thought
and refinement in the compositional thinking. A pleasure!
