    String Trio - Bunessan

So I decided to take the lessons I had learned with the Dedieu-Peters score and write something myself....

I have 3 very talented String players at my church (2 vln, 1 vla) and so I wrote them this little arrangement of the tune Bunessan (more frequently known as the tune to "Morning Has Broken", although the tune was in existence quite some time before the writing of those words)

Due to time constraints, this had to be about 2 minutes - I'd have liked to develop it further with a 3rd verse, but for now it will need to stand as is.

The first verse is pretty traditional, the second goes off into some contrapuntal weirdness before innocuously finishing...

Strad X 2 plus the now-infamous "detuned Strad" which serves as a Viola

    Enjoy,

    - J

It's a nice piece. I liked the weirdness the best but others probably require the traditional structure.

Nice to hear some of your work.

    Glad you enjoyed it, Phil!

Honestly, I enjoy the weirdness best also, but one has to remember one's audience

    Cheers,

Well, your contrapuntal wierdness is wonderful. I find nothing wierd in allowing the part to intertwine with its neighbor. It brings a group of musicians closer together in their expressiveness. The interplay between your three players is very good. I'm sure the live musicians will enjoy this piece and hopefully more than the enjoyment you have given me today.

    THANKS !

You're always an interesting listen, my friend,
whether bringing forth the obscure or speaking
    with your own voice.

I enjoyed the writing/arranging in this -- more
on the second pass, as I better caught your
drift in the latter section. I do hope you'll take
this along further... perhaps a somewhat quicker
    variation between the two existing?

    All my best,
