2 demos for VSL "downloadable" Concert Guitar by Albeniz and Walton

Here are two performances using the VSL "downloadable" Concert Guitar.

    Albeniz's Sevilla:

    Walton's Bagatell #2:

The Walton piece reminds me of a Spanish-flavored Satie piece.

    All comments welcome and appreciated.

    Hi Jay, very convincing!

Classical guitar is my primary instrument so I can say that Sevilla is not an easy piece to play, nor an easy piece to render.

But I think you made a very convinsing job.

Both pieces are very well realized but the Albeniz is especially a real treat, great dynamics throughout, string gliss effect well placed, and LOVE the subtle delicat notes, it's a great insparation for guitar programming. Thanks Jay!

Years ago I had a recording of the Albeniz piece on vinyl played by Rey de la Torre. This is a remarkable rendition which sounds exactly as I remember that recording. Thanks for doing this. It must have been amazingly difficult to realise.

    The programming is great! Congratulations!
I own Vienna Guitar, but I do not use it very often.
But I miss allways a lot of overtones by the Vienna Guitar.
I am a guitarplayer and use guitars by Hannachbach, Ramirez or Fleta.
I don't know what kind of guitar VI uses for recoring of the samples.
But it was really not an excellent, high qualitity guitar.

    Jay,

You're an inspiration. Wow! I didn't think such realism was possible with the VSL guitar. Looks like I need to revisit.

Did you use many L2 articulations in that? Do you have any special tricks to share?

Thanks again for posting these great demos!

What do you mean by L2?

I've always loved the VSL guitar and this demos was just great. But i wonder if there are any new recording in the VI version?

Re: 2 demos for VSL "downloadable" Concert Guitar by Albeniz and Walton

Alex-- I'm not sure which articulations are from the extended (L2) library, but I used quite a few different articulations so chances are good that I used some of the extended articulations.

You can download the "tutorial" on the player page for the presets and midi files.

The best "trick" for mocking up an existing guitar piece would be to study the guitar tablature for that piece. Understanding how a real guitarist would approach the notes (which strings, which techniques) can make a huge difference.

Geronimo001-- I believe the new VI Concert Guitar samples are basically the same as the older Horizon Concert Guitar. However, the VI samples are 24bit as opposed to 16bit and the new VI player makes using many of the samples (especially the repetition samples) much easier.
