    Hi Gary,
I havent been on the forum for quite some time now and what a wonderful piece to listen to when i came back!!
    Thank you for posting this.
The piccolo solo part was executed perfectly!!! The trills were so light and wonderful.

    Kind Regards,

    Dan.

    Re: Stars & Stripes, Forever

    Thanks for listening, Dan.
I transcribed it several years ago and just made some dynamic & tempo changes before posting. All notes are directly off the score. I may fiddle with limiting players for more contrast at a later date.
The important idea is that Sousa liked to vary interpretations on different concerts-not just one way to play it.

    Hi Gary,

Nice job on this! I agree with Dan on the picc part -- very adept, light touch with that!

    Thanks for posting!

    Re: Stars & Stripes, Forever

Thanks for listening, Michael. I think most people forget that this march is designated as the National March.
I've been listening to a lot of Sousa's work lately.
He sometimes makes a melody work despite the simple nature of its form. I've had one such melody playing in my head every minute-even when I awake at night. PATHFINDER OF PANAMA was composed for the San Francisco Panama-Pacific exhibition in the Summer of 1915.
The section I refer to is possibly the Trio.
    I have to find a new piece..SOON....

Has CC recovered from Spring Break?

    Gary -

You're making me regret not getting CoMB!

Ditto the comment about the Piccolo solo: great rendering!

There's a way in which I hear a good marching band orchestrated to "emulate" a "calliope with a heart." This piece makes it for me!

Thank you for sharing this one.

    Thanks for listening, Joe.
Having GPO, Jazz, and CMB allows for more choices as you make decisions about sound.
It has taken a MAJOR brain transplant on my part to improve aspects of final sound.
It's similar to preparing a Band for performance. i.e. is this all I can do for the final result.

    Thanks for listening, Jon.
I sometimes buy a score to work on, but haven't got this yet.
As I continue to listen to Panama.. I'll probably get it.
