    Steinway Demos

I just listened to all of the current demos. What a beautiful sounding piano. All of the demos are fantastic.

    Good job everyone!

Scherzo of Chopin: more than one direction error left/right. All is a bit narrow. And the keyboard is not that narrow.

Mendelssohn: one can tell which is which just by listening where the sound is coming from. The real one is clear, the demo is a bit narrow on the placements of the notes.

Beethoven: fast and furious, without any decent phrasing. During the first half some extra noises were audible, maybe the mechanism is bleeding thru. Mostly on the right channel. At the end of those fast arpeggios the fierce chords lack brilliance on the higher notes. It is a bit dry!

    Liszt: narrowed left and right.

Rachmaninoff: Player Pers. again too narrow.

    BUT THE SOUND IS GREAT!!!!!!!!!

I made straight for the Bach as it's the Standard version, ie the one that's coming to me ... What an absolutely beautiful sound. I haven't a clue which is the real one and which is the wooden one - congratulations Dan ! Also loved the agility of the Gaseous Preludes - David, do you ever write anything with a boring title ?

    Can't wait for that parcel.

Isn't the sound of it something?

As for titles, that's a bit of a pun. GASeous... as
    in Garritan Authorized Steinway.

These little preludes were written specifically to
demonstrate several aspects of the G.Steinway...
the agility, how well it handles tight articulation,
and just for fun (third one) -- how it can get down
there in the bottom and burble and growl at you.

Some of the other preludes likewise test the mettle
of the machine in other ways... and it's passed
every test I can throw at it with flying colors.

    Best,

    David

I think it would be great to listen to some 24bit wav files.

    Well, no.

For sure it sounds as good as Ivory and, for sure, it's a highly respectable competitor.

    IMO, of course.
