    Euphoria (trombone/euphonium/piano trio)

As a few members of the forum already know, I was recently commissioned to write a piece for bass trombone, euphonium, and piano. I finished it a while ago, and it's being premiered this weekend.

But you don't have to be there! Instead listen to it here in the comfort of your own home or wherever you are!

(The playback is straight out of Finale, completely unedited, so don't expect much in the way of expressive playing or anything.)

Euphoria for bass trombone, euphonium, and piano

Brass instruments are from Concert and Marching Band, piano is the lite Steinway from GPO (since I haven't ordered the Authorized Steinway yet ) Enjoy!

    Hi Dan,

I liked this. Just looking at the instrument list it seems like it might be a bit ponderous and bottom heavy. Not at all. The sound is pretty good to – something about it seems very natural - I listened a couple of times and could have listened again but had to move on.

Thanx, Dan, for a superb addition to our repertoire!
PLEASE let me know when it is available for purchase!

PS-If your title is not fixed in stone, Derek Bourgeois has used that title already for a solo piece.

Thumbs up Re: Euphoria (trombone/euphonium/piano trio)

    Dan:
I applaud your very well written, very much needed, piece to the repertory
of two instruments that are in dire need of such quality material. I trust you will make this available to the multitude of low brass players that are required to give performances and recitals in order to graduate. If there is any way I can help you, please let me know.

    Congratulations on the premier, Dan!

Any chance we get to hear a recording of it?

This is very, very well done; superbly written.

I'd love to hear the real deal!

    Thanks, everyone!

To Jim & Steve: I need to make some edits and corrections to the score before it's ready to release to the wider universe. And it looks like I'll be too busy for the next few weeks to work on that. But I expect it'll be ready sometime this summer, and I'll be sure to let you know.

To Jim: Somebody already pointed the problem with "Euphoria" as a title. I'll see if I can come up with something else, but so far I haven't thought of anything I like better.

To David: I'll see what I can do. The performance took place yesterday, and I assume it was recorded, but I don't know for sure. I wasn't able to attend because my other career got in the way, but I heard it went well.

To Gunther: Thanks, I think. Seriously, my computer is a much better pianist than I am! (Luckily, my wife is a much better pianist than both of us, and she's the one who played in the premiere yesterday.)

    Dan,
Do I recall your saying that this was originally for band, euph, and bass bone?

Sorry, but there was never a band involved!
