STEINWAY: Orchestral Variation for Piano No.3 by Janusz Podrazik

Janusz Podrazik sent in his Orchestral Variation for Piano No.3

    Orchestral Variation for Piano No.3

Janusz wrote that this short piece illustrates specific parts of the
    Steinway sonority.

The score of the Orchestral Variations for Piano No.3 is realized with
the help of Symbolic Composer and the MRAC Library. The composition is part of some piano studies written in 1998 with the main focus to
write a series of new algorithms to structure length (duration), time (tempo
changes) and pitch zone/range. The 'Orchestral Variations for Piano' are the outcome and part of that process. You can find more information on the composer's site: http://www.januszpodrazik.com

    Microphone Position: Close
    Mechanical Noise: 11
    Sustain Resonance: 17

Thanks Janusz for sending this in.

    Best,

    Gary Garritan

Gary the sound is amazing, I'll never stop saying that!

Is Janusz a member here? (that's why I mentioned Gary).

The composition is mighty interesting (although in a live performance it would be even more stunning I think), and I'm off later on this week to study a bit.

BTW, Gary Janusz site, in your post, needs an "h" in the beginning (http instead of ttp).

I honestly can't believe that this is a sampled piano! It sounds amazingly real!

    A fascinating piece, Janusz!

And the sound you have gotten -- this is stunningly
good; one of the best (not to mention most interesting)
demos of the G.Steinway I have heard in its clarity and detail.

I sincerely hope we shall hear much, much more from
    you, Janusz!

    All my best,

The spaciousness of the resonance is wonderful. That's what's always frustrated me in the past with other sampled pianos. But this piece along with what has to be the best sampled piano in existence makes the sound come alive.

I will post few more short examples/compositions in the next few weeks. Possibly piano with string quartet. Thanks and best wishes, to all, JP
