    A New York Judge....

... tells J K Rowling that her Harry Potter books are gibberish.

If I had as much money as Rowling, I wouldn't care if anybody though it was gibberish. I'd be laughing all the way to the bank.

Just FYI ... the link for your profile in your sig. is not working as a link.

The quote is taken out of context:

District Judge Robert Patterson Jr said that he had read the first half of the first Harry Potter novel to his grandchildren, but found the “magical world hard to follow, filled with strange names and words that would be gibberish in any other context."
For example, I found a headline at http://djd.newsvine.com/ that says
Judge in JK Rowling copyright trial brands Harry Potter 'gibberish'
However, the article itself more accurately says that
the names of her characters and places sounded like gibberish
Incidentally, I have a slight connection with one of the Judge's comments--he likened the case to Jarndyce and Jarndyce from Bleak House, by Dickens (the article mistakenly refers to it as Jarndyce v[ersus] Jarndyce). My father-in-law, Marvin Birnbaum, is the recently retired senior court reporter in New York Southern District Court, and his literary knowledge is famed throughout the Courthouse. He often discussed Bleak House and other works of classic literature that centered around the courts.

Nevertheless, the fact that Judge Patterson admitted that he does not care for the Harry Potter books gives the impression that he is biased against Ms. Rowling. Judge Patterson is 85 years old and assumed "senior status" in 1998.
