Traumerei-Am I dreaming or is the Steinway for real?

Hi, Just wanted to post this version of Robt. Schumann's "Traumerei" rendered with the Steinway VST in Sonar. I used the classic perspective with some minor tweaks. How does this sound? John

Wonderful rendition of this Schumann classic. Very well
done. What reverb did you use? Was it an Ambience reverb?

An excellent performance. This is my favorite Authorized Steinway piece yet.

    John,

excellent. Did you play this "in real time" in Sonar? If not, your tweaking of the MIDI is outstanding!!!!

Re: Traumerei-Am I dreaming or is the Steinway for real?

I don't know what to say to you gentlemen, who I hope and strive to emulate. I just wanted to use a simple melody so that the beauty of the Garritan Steinway was exposed. Maybe it's just this beautiful tune digging at everyone's heart the way it has mine. Thank you all so much.
The set-up I used was the "classic" microphone position. I have the mechanical noise setting at 12, polyphony is 64 (probably unnecessary for this song), the velocity setting is straight (default). Under the "space" settings I have turned on the sustain resonance (set to 19) the sympathetic resonance setting is 48. I have turned on the tone eq section on and just bumped the high knob to +8, mid +10, and low +7 (I have rather small monitor speakers).
The ambience settings are on with the Ballroom 1 reverb, decay 48, diff 50%, size 35% , predelay 55 ms, width 94%, quality 96%, variation 0 and the top of the dry fader is about even with the space between "variation" and the knob below it. The top of the wet fader is almost halfway down the dry fader. I think many of these are the default settings.
I am using Sonar 7PE and I added the Vintage Channel Compressor with a default setting called "gentle M-S Mastering" before exporting the audio file.
I converted the wav file to 192 Kb/s for the MP3.
This was laboriously played in, and then even more laboriously edited in the Piano Roll view and Event List in Sonar. I just don't have the chops on the keyboard and most of my editing was directed at smoothing out the timing and velocities. I first learned this song on the classic guitar and it has long been a favorite. Thanks again! John
Perhaps our German/Austrian friends can let us know the meaning of "traumerei".

Sounds great. Very pretty. To be able to write as simply as he did in his Kinderszen yet to be as beautiful as he made it… Great performance.
