    String Divisi Programs?

    Hi,

I was wondering if/how various libs handle divisis. I only have some older libs with a fixed # of players for 1sts and 2nds. But I've always wished that there were smaller sections to handle divisis down to, perhaps 3 players per note instead of the usual 12 or whatever.

Are the newer/bigger libs doing something like this?

VSL has 4 sizes of sections, including solo. By judicious layering you can cover whatever size you want.

Kirk Hunter's library has string sections in 4 or 5 different sizes, as well as soloists.

I've already created script-based auto-divisi prototypes. It uses various section sizes from solos to really large unisons. It will auto-detect the number of notes you play, or are holding down, and decide the section size to play. It's working well so far, but still needs a little tweaking. I'll be making them available for all Diamond users.

Synful Orchestra and WIVI do automatic divisi splits.
