Toccata op.82 for piano - PLZ needed an Authorized Steinway rendering

    Hi guys,

This time I want to post you my latest work just finished to write. It's the Toccata op.82 for piano solo, a short technical piece I wrote in occasion of a little concert in the date of 5th of June. Unfortunately I won't be able to record the performance because there will be no mics of any sort. So I'd appreciate if someone (with a great great heart ) could make a rendering of the midi file with the Authorized Steinway, possibly with the Under Lid or the Player perspective. Thank you very much. Hope you'll enjoy the piece.

    Best Regards to you all,

    Andrea.

Hi, As fate would have it, I have a great deal of time on my hands. I will take a stab at this. Do you want me to post the results, or would you like it sent to you privately? I see that you too are using box.net, If you wanted to make me a collaborator on this file, I would be able to place the results back into your box. Regards, John (bigears)

Re: Toccata op.82 for piano - PLZ needed an Authorized Steinway rendering

Hello again, I've got the file playing now. What tempo do you have in mind for this piece? And can you tell me what sort of room or space you would like this placed in. The ambience pre-set choices are: Ballroom 1 and 2, Cathedral, Concert Hall 1 and 2, Jazz Club 1 and 2, Parlor, Piano Hall 1 and 2, Recital Hall 1 and 2. The manual advises that since the recordings were done in one of the great music halls, there is natural reverb present in many of the more distant perspectives. So for instance, if you wanted it rendered with the Stage Side or Classic perspective, we could leave the ambience turned off, and we would hear the samples as recorded in the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. You mentioned the Under Lid or the Player perspective, so I'm guessing you want to hear this more "from the bench".
Then the choice would be do you want to hear it as a small room (more intimate) or in a larger setting. All these decisions..... John

    bigears,

For the tempo is correct the one of the midi file, even if in some points it changes very quickly as for the Time Signature. For the reverb listen to how sounds best. I'll let you the choice. For the listening perspective I think the small room would work well...you can post here the result so even others can make suggestions to how to improve the work. Thank you for your disponibility.

    Best Regards,

    Andrea.

Re: Toccata op.82 for piano - PLZ needed an Authorized Steinway rendering

Finally I have got these finished and properly reflecting the various tempi the author intended. It turns out that Sonar or my settings for Sonar wouldn't "see" the tempo data in the MIDI file. These, therefor, are rendered through the Standalone Steinway Midi file player. I don't know if everyone realizes how great this little player is for quickly loading a MIDI file and auditioning it and/or rendering a wav file. It's a nice bonus with the Aria UI. What I've done is rendered Andrea's piece with each of the five perspectives. The Toccata is a short piece, so I converted to MP3 with the higher 256 KB/s compression.
The Classic perspective, with the velocity bumped up one, and ambience off is here:

the Close perspective, with the velocity bumped up one, ambience off is here: http://www.box.net/shared/static/g3uurb20w4.mp3

the Player perspective, with the velocity bumped up one, and ambience on with the Parlor setting is here:
    http://www.box.net/shared/static/cnqqnduok8.mp3

The Stage Side, again one bump up on the velocity, no ambience is here:
    http://www.box.net/shared/static/0tq6jsecko.mp3

and the Under Lid, velocity up one, ambience on, Parlor room setting:

Sorry for the confusion, I hope these are enjoyed. John
