    Question Humatic Chaingang help

    Hello,
I have installed the demo version of Chaingang for video sync in a slave computer. Everything is fine, except that when I push play the video doesn't move (the CG bar goes to 0 position), but when I push stop CG goes to Cubase position correctly.
Does anyone know what is the problem?

I am under Window XP SP2 and Cubase 4.1.3

    Thank you

in cubase sync setup make sure Midi timecode follows project time.
also try hard sync option in CG.
    good luck.

    Done.
I contacted the tech support and it is a problem of my midi device (Creamware Scope) With Midex 3 from Steinberg works great.

    Thanks

One tip: Chaingang timing works better if its window is maximized, at least here.

    Hi Hannes,

Thank you for the tip! I already purchased it and it is working really great here, and full screen

    Re: Humatic Chaingang help

I have been doing some little tests and with sorenson codec my slave pc (where ChainGang works) hangs after some minutes. It seems that H264 codec works better.

What codec do you use and what resolution?

Thumbs up Re: Humatic Chaingang help

I've been working with the developer on QT 7.4 support in Vista using H.264 - much improved with version 1.3.1 of Chaingang (still in pre-release but getting closer). I've tried QT MJPEG and it doesn't seem to do as well as H.264. Right now I'm transcoding my latest project to Sorensen3 to see how that syncs up (and what kind of CPU hit it takes to run that codec).

For my main machine I've gone to the BlackMagic Intensity card and running to a separate 22" LCD widescreen monitor - in 720p it's a pretty respectible hit (using BlackMagic's MJPEG codec). Transport is wicked smooth and responsive. So I'm planning to move ChainGang to a third machine (a laptop) for ADR sessions, sync'ing through ipMIDI over wireless LAN. That should be fun (and look good), even if I don't run at full 720p on the single-core 32-bit laptop.
