    Cubase studio 4 ???

    Hi,

I'm looking to create a solo piano album for retail sale using steinbergs cubase studio 4, would this DAW be professional enough for retail sale material???

That depends - are you doing all of the pre-mastering/finalizing inside the program? I don't know if Cubase Studio 4 comes with the multi-band compressor and other finalizing tools, so you may have to go for a third party set of plugins in order to have a truly complete kit (Even though I have Nuendo and Cubase 4 - I use iZotope's Ozone for pre-mastering - highly recommended). Then again, considering it's a solo piano album, then you should be fine to use it out-of-the-box as long as your source capture is good and all of the desired dynamics are "going to tape" as you record. Cubase Studio 4 is a pretty good deal for the amount of functionality you get, so I think you'd be in pretty good shape.

It also surely depends on what you are using to generate the sounds.
