You should see the Chianti Region of Tuscany. The restaraunts in Sienna get their "house wine" from tapped oak barrels in the back; filled with chianti from the vineyards they can see from their town!!
I don't remember the brands (I'm more of a Tanqueray Gin kind of guy), but it must have been strong stuff for me to make a "decanter, B-flat canter" joke! It seemed hilarious at the time, but my wife assures me it was not.
