    Impressions Of The "persians"

An extension & revision of a theme inspired by a 2003 visit to an art gallery in Seattle which displayed blown glass art of Chihuly.
    For String Quintet.

    Gary,

This is wonderful! Very soothing with a touch of despair; very dramatic work. The ending was brilliant as the piece seemed to slowly "break-up" a bit to later come back together for the final repeating of the theme. Would like to hear this theme orchestrated! Great job!

    Re: Impressions Of The "persians"

    Thanks for listening, Michael.
Since this piece is over 5 years old I have an
emotional disconnect from what my original feelings may have been.
The segment in the middle is all new work-attempting to elaborate on an old work.

I confess I know little of Dale Chihuly beyond the privilege
of having seen some of his work. It's interesting that you
drew from it what seems a sense of deep melancholia in
places -- whilst his works impressed me most with their
jubilant, almost flamboyantly explosive celebation of
    light and color and form.

Very well done handling of the quintet in this, Gary.

    My best,

    Thanks for listening, David.
The melancholia was probably mine, although I don't recall my motivations.
As I work a piece of music seems to dictate its on direction.
