    Heavyocity

I'm probably way late in posting about this, but has anyone purchased Evolve yet? I use Air and Elements from Sample Logic all the time (cool guys too!) and Evolve from Heavyocity seems to live in the same spirit. I'm a Kontakt 3 geek and love using it to create scripts. Considering Evolve is based on Kontakt, I want to dish out the $399 but would like to hear feedback from users first. I appreciate any replies.

    Hey Mark,

I would be the last one to respond, of course, but there are a few user reactions in this thread that might be helpful to you:

There are also a few testimonials on the Heavyocity site; more will be coming shortly.

    Hope that helps a bit.

    Cheers,
    Dave

    Re: Heavyocity

I don't mind re-posting a rave review. I was really disappointed with A.I.R. when I got it... the uses felt limited. It's a cool product but wasn't what I was expecting based on the demos. Evolve is what I had hoped AIR would be... it fills in the blanks texturally, sort of like part sound design, part music. It can add layers upon layers of texture and aural interest without getting in the way of the music, OR it can be conspicuous in a mix and sound excellent. A week later I still can't stop playing with it... it's THAT good. I hope the Heavyocity guys continue to make stuff in the same vein as Evolve, and keep the standards just as high, cuz I'll keep buyin' 'em!

Kerry - Is it the interface that you didn't like with A.I.R. or the sound library? If you're referring to the interface, this isn't the first time I've heard people complain about it and they wish it was more like Sample Logic's Elements. I'm not sure if you're aware, but the A.I.R. interface has been updated to the same usability as Elements. The update is free from the Sample Logic web site.

I placed my order for Evolve and I cannot wait to start using it. It's supposed to be here on Thursday.

    Re: Heavyocity

I wasn't crazy about the sound library itself. It felt like it was geared too much towards techno/dance-type music. The interface isn't great either, but I hate the Kontakt interface anyway, so you can't fault a company who's just licensing it.

Based on the demos of A.I.R. that convinced me to buy it, what I was hoping for was what EVOLVE actually is.. AIR isn't a BAD product by any means: it just didn't have the types of sounds I was ultimately hoping for.

You'll go nuts with EVOLVE. There's so much there, it'll keep you busy for days just trying to figure out what you want to use next. Really versatile, and can fit easily into many types of music.

    Re: Heavyocity

I agree with everyone in the other thread! This library is amazing, so well produced, very creative, a myriad of sounds, and the perfect compliment for just about any project! A HUGE thumbs up for Evolve!

    Hey Mark,

Thanks for sharing your initial impressions, Mark. We're really pleased to hear you're pleased with the instrument!

And Kerry, thanks again! Judging by your handle you and I might be neighbors!... Where in the city are you?

    Cheers,

    Re: Heavyocity

    Hi All,

EVOLVE Update 1 is now available for free download

The update will fix minor issues in some instrument presets (eg. smoother loop points, velocity sensitivity fixes). In order to make the installation process as smooth as possible, we have included all of the instrument and multi presets in the update. You can simply unzip the update folder and replace the Instruments and Multis folders in your Heavyocity/Evolve directory.

You can find the update in the download section of http://www.heavyocity.com

**This method of overwriting the presets will cause all user re-saved or altered presets to be erased. To avoid this, please follow the instructions in the "readme" enclosed in the zip file.

For more information please refer to the Heavyocity website (http://www.heavyocity.com) and the Heavyocity forums (http://forum.heavyocity.com/phpBB3)

    Re: Heavyocity

The demos sound very impressive. I think this may be my next purchase.

Gotta love a lib that has demo titles like

    Crime Scream Investigate

    No IP Till Brooklyn

    Spy Da Man Evolves

    Quirk de Souflle

    LOL!!!

i too fell into the A/I/R trap. I bought it and really felt I couldnt use it anywhere... When I got a sci-fi film to score recently I thought [finally] a place for air. But... Not really. That pretty much convinced me to NOT pick up there second product, "elements"? [i think thats what its called] EVOLVE looks totally awesome though. Would love to pick it up and throw it into the mix on the next Project.
