    Scifi Trailer using Finale

Hey everyone! I haven't posted on here in a while and people have been asking what I'm up to, so, here is a export straight out of finale for a scifi trailer cue that I'm currently writing. It's about halfway written and obviously not mixed or mastered (it's pretty quiet), but I thought i'd post it for some feedback in regards to composition. Thanks!

    Hey Well done,

I like it - could you tell me more about what is going on.

What libraries - how are you triggering what - internal Kontakt? Finale 2008?
    How do you handle articulations?

I want to switch to using Finale for demos.

    Well done

Thanks for the kind words! I'm using EastWest Symphonic Orchestra Platinum and Symphonic Choirs. I'm running Kontakt 2 within Finale 2008. I do articulation changes by setting up multis within kontakt and then changing the patch via a dynamic marking in the score. Finale allows you to create custom expressions that can change patch numbers. So, I use that to switch between the articulations. Finale is great for ROUGH demo export... just something you can show a client to get approval. I do all of my post work in Digital Performer. I'll post on here again when I have this track mixed and mastered. Finale is no substitute for a great DAW. Thanks again!

Nice work. It's beyond my musical ability to find fault with it. I love the way you've backed up the low brass with the bass drum (such as around 50s) -- really makes it sound powerful!

Outstanding writing! I enjoyed your music, but it didn't last long enough.

    Keep up the fine work.

For anyone's who interested, I've posted the rough score at http://ms-studios.com/michaelshumway/score.pdf

You can see how I change articulations within Finale. I would obviously clean those out if this was going to be played in a live session.
