OT: I want to help a friend of friend...

    Hi all

Some Ideas on how the following might help a family. The mother is seriously ill with cancer. I have offered 500-100cds for them to sell, but I have had a lovely email saying thanks, but they just don't have time to deal with sales mailing etc...

I can do that here in the UK, but I can't tell the good people that the cds are available.

I am a former mountain biker and a cycle company has put a road bike up for raffle at $5 a ticket.

Any ideas on how I can get this to work? or PR help gratefully received.

Maybe a benefit concert? In my hometown we had 2 brothers pass away from cancer within a couple months of each other, they were both fixtures on the local metal\rock scene and some people who knew them started a benefit\charity in their memory and the proceeds will go towards helping families going through the same thing ie help with incidental expenses, loss of wages etc... The last benefit show they had (for another local musician struggling wiht a brain tumour) raised over $10,000 all through door sales and raffles.
It obviously helped that the brothers were so well known and loved in the scene, but perhaps an idea like this might work?

A link to the website if you are interested.

in any case, best of luck and wishes for your friend's mom..

Thanks for the info and the link, it is amazing with what can be done. The problem I have is I am in the UK and they are in the USA. I can deal with posting of CDs though the cost would need to be covered.

I just would like to be able to help in some small way.

They certainly worked wonders at Band of brothers.

    Thanks again
