    Debussy's "Little Shepherd"

An absolute gem from Debussy, from his "Children's Corner" suite - "The Little Shepherd" - dating from 1909. One of my favourite pieces to play - so a tryout on Auth. Steinway was in order.
Classic perspective with a little Concert Hall 1 reverb.

I guess this would be fun to play if one was so inclined to do so. It seems very simple and dare I say it....Childlike. I guess it was so intended.

As always the Steinway sounds great.

    Well done

Sometimes I think Debussy was at his finest when he wrote
at his simplest... with such clarity and grace, even with the
    most modest of means.

Thanks for bringing this one by, Eugene; well done!

    My best,

A gem it is, like all pieces from the same suite!
One of my favorites too... and you did it justice.
The only thing I miss is the little crescendo from 1:26 to 1:32... but that is my personal taste...
Thanks for posting and reminding me of this sweet suite.

Eugene, Thank you for sharing this piece, it was a treat for me as I wasn't familiar with the "Children's Corner" suite. I have now listened to your rendition about ten times trying to figure out what Debussy was up to. Regards, John

    Eugene,

Very nice work on rendering this work true to form. Just like you are playing right in front of me.

Thanks to all for your comments on this piece. The popularity of the work is reflected in the multitude of recordings by major pianists over the years. There are also arrangements for other ensembles, including orchestral.
The rest of the suite is enjoyable also and worth getting to know, the most famous piece being the "Golliwog's Cakewalk".
