Exclamation Summer NAMM this past weekend?

Woe! Did this years "Summer NAMM" happen this past weekend and if so, where? Obviously, not in warm, sunny, desolate, Beefalo? So ... Where?
Oh I guess I'm just reminiscing. However, I did received an email advertisement from that Sweet place music store thingy and it clearly stated "Summer NAMM this past weekend". (I like cherry pie)

I was at Summer NAMM representing the Bob Moog Memorial Foundation.

Harmony-Central didn't have good coverage of press releases this time around, but they posted some useful videos.

More videos and reviews can be found at sonicstate.com and gearwire.com.

Recent Summer NAMMs in Austin and elsewhere were failures due to low vendor participation and dealer turnout. This was the first Summer NAMM to return to Nashville, which turned out to be quite popular.

There was very little news and few vendors in attendance with regard to computer-based music or keyboards, but this was a "rebuilding" year for Summer NAMM and it ought to pick up next year.

M-Audio has a new line of home digital pianos with MIDI over USB that come bundled with Mac and PC software for recording and virtual instruments. The top-of-the-line also does audio over USB and includes microphone inputs.

Steinberg and Yamaha have released a small audio interface and a control surface that integrate Cubase with Yamaha hardware.

Roland has some new workstation keyboards, a new digital accordion, and a lot of additions and upgrades to their digital drums.

Notion is promoting their new guitar and rock band notation program, with integrated multi-samples, signal processing and audio mixing functions.

Peavey and Vox have virtual guitar amp simulation software.

That's all I remember off the top of my head.

    Thanks for the report Wheat!

There was a scarcity of information about this year's summer NAMM and glad to hear from someone who was in the thick of it!

Hope you had a good time!

I'll miss ol' Mr. Moog. I will remember the day when I was a Jr. Higher playing my first Moog (the Mini Moog) in a music store. I was enthralled by its sound!

I was, of course, a mainliner of Emerson, Lake and Palmer. I had every note of Tarkus memorized.

Seems the show was a bigger success in Nashville this summer than previous summers in other citiies:
NAMM has announced final registration and exhibitor numbers for 2008 Summer NAMM. At show close, NAMM reported a 36 percent increase in registration from last year’s event in Austin, with 17,473 total registrants for the three-day event, including a 45 percent increase in international registrants…

Kindly notice that Summer NAMM went into the toilet ONE YEAR AFTER they decided to abandon Indianapolis.
