    Stripping audio from video to...

How can I strip audio from some video that I have been given permission to use.

It already has a voice over and sound track that I want to replace with some music.

Is there something in Logic that I can use or something in Quicktime?

    Many thanks

    Hi Simon,

Do you have the licence for Quicktime Pro? If so, you can just Export it again without the audio.

Otherwise, import it into iMovie and you should be able to do a similar thing I would think.

You are definately going to need quicktime pro anyhow, because the only way to deliver your work afterwards, synced in your quicktime movie, is to render a new movie and you need QT Pro to do that (like when its time to export from cubase or DP or whatnot)

or are you referring to pulling it off a DVD? If you mean taking it from a DVD and not a digital file thats different and there are software progs you can get to make the files from DVDs If that is what you want yell and I will post what I use when I get to the studio today

Simon - do you use, or have access to Cubase? There is a Replace Audio in Vid File feature - you don't need QT Pro for this, nor do you need to re-export the movie. I am not sure if other seq's have this.

    Cheers.

I would assume that ( just like in Sonar ) you could just mute the audio track that was imported with the video and forget it.

You still need QT Pro to do that with cubase

How would you score the video then?

You have to strip the foley and dialogue and include it in your mix or your client will be not able to understand your score, nor would you be really paying attention to much of the nuance of the audio of the film/show without it (ie your score would be weak at best)

iMovie will definitely do this. I think it's called "extract audio." I've done this a few times so i know it works.
