4th of July and Canada Day Contest - Win You Choice of a Library!

    Music Contest

This coming weekend is Independence Day and yesterday was Canada Day. People in North America celebrate with parades, fireworks, ceremonies and festivities. To add to the celebration let's do some music and have a contest.

Submit a short MP3 appropriate for Independence Day or Canada Day. It could be a patriotic piece, original work, or other appropriate music you may have already submitted. The work must use Garritan libraries.

The winning entry will win your choice of any library (Steinway, CoMB, JABB, GPO or our upcoming libraries). We'll end the contest on July 11th.

I am looking forward to hearing your Independence Day or Canada Day music.

With a new year coming upon our two great countries,
    I am pleased to present my own humble musical comment;
a brief piece that I believe fully reflects both the deep
historical traditions we share, and the nature of our
    prospects for forthcoming days...

Oh, and before anyone asks, yes, of course, this is, the
entire production, 100% GPO. Without further ado, then:

    Fourth of July Extravaganza

    All my best,

    David

Aren't you glad it's shorter than the last one I did?

And it'll double for the opening of the Bejing Olympics! Nice.

    Exquisite David!

I am not entering the contest, but want to share this "ALL GPO" version of

    America The Beautiful

I put this together a few years ago and used GPO. It is based around the arrangement found on The Philips label with the Boston Pops with John Williams directing. I didn't have a choir so I had to arrange the second and third verses with woodwinds and pipe organ. Crank up that subwoofer, but only if it's really a subwoofer, you'll know what I mean

    Happy Independence Day everyone!

    etLux,

What a "stroke" of genius... ;-p 'nuf said!

    DPDAN,

I really enjoy every piece you render and score in the Garritan Libraries. You are an inspiration. I enjoyed this rendition of "America The Beautiful" and want to thank you for sharing it with us.

EtLux: Did you use a DAW or notation software for that? I really can't tell Too funny.

Dan: As always beautiful job transcribing and rendering. Do you happen to know if John Williams arranged that?

    Gary,

This is my entry, "Fireworks". It is partially based on a MIDI file found years ago with no author. The creative work is mine.

Most of the instruments are GPO and JABB.

    Regards and Happy Fourth,

Great! I'll be entering this one. I've actually got a piece I can submit, but I'll want to polish it up a bit before sending it in.

(Looks like rain tomorrow, so instead of going to the fireworks, I'll stay home and work on this.)

I don't know if this makes me a big jerk, but the political climate in the US inspired me to write a marching band show based on George Orwell's 1984. Maybe I'm one of those crazy guys that views standing up and making commentary about the state of democracy and freedom a high form of patriotism. That being said, I also have an arrangement of American the Beautiful, but that was already done!

I'd like to post this piece: (Sorry Dan - same tune)

America the Beautiful for brass sextet. My brass group thoroughly enjoys playing this arrangement I did for them. The group consists of 2 trumpets, 2 horns, trombone and bass trombone.
We dream to write and we write to dream.
