    Theme for a Dark Lord

This is my final week in the Math class I am taking and I will have some free time once again soon. I can't wait. This is the longest time (5 1/2 weeks) I have gone without composing in years and I am going crazy. Next week I start a regular class and will be able to compose again. I can't wait!

I composed this one rather quickly back in May for the CGE competition in June. I knew I would have no time in June due to the class I am taking, so I threw it together pretty fast and waited until the competition was over to post it here.

This uses GPO, Jabb and a few others

It is a theme for a Dark Lord

This is the version I entered in the competition

I know the ending doesn't fit great, but it was fast.

The way I composed it is this one

    Comments are appreciated

    Thanks

You "hit the nail right on the head", Ron!

Your brass introduction is awesome! You've captured a very scary cinematic atmosphere. You would make any Dark Lord -> even Darth Vader, proud. The 2 or 3 note theme that echos in brass and strings is very well handled. Extremely professional!

    Well done!

As always, it is great to hear from you. I am happy you think I captured a Dark Lord idea and I thank you for the kind words.

I figured you might like all of that brass in there; it's right up your alley.

    Thanks guys

    Ron:
    Ditto to Michael's comments. I wonder what the results would/will be if you had/ have all the time you want or need;
    1. Much better? Hardly, I don't see any need for improvement.
    2. A cluttered mess because of too much second guessing? Highly unlikely.
    3. Everything in it's time. My recommendation is to just keep doing what you're doing. You're the best!

Thank you so much for the encouragement. Coming from someone that has the background and experience like yourself, your words are high praise and are accepted with a ton of thanks and humbleness.

    Wow Goose bumps!

The Brass and woodwinds are prominent and very well done. Great piece!

Goosebumps huh? Got the A/C up a little too high?

    Those are very kind words.

    Thank you.

Re: Theme for a Dark Lord

I sounded like fine dark music to me. Great use of the instruments for effect.

    Well done!

I was thinking about music to go with the earth slowly being sucked into a black hole created by the collider. But hurry, you don't have much time.

I was thinking of entering that, but I didn't. Probably because I was gonna enter as a joke and make something so painfully atonal that people would kinda laugh if they heard it. I just wasn't kinda feeling the atonality (which, in my opinion, is the most important part of composing atonally), so I just kinda decided not to enter.
