    Word of the Week: OWELTY

Grant suggested this week's Word of the Week:

    Owelty
    Ow´el`ty

    Owelty means:
    1. (Law) Equality; - sometimes written ovelty and ovealty.
    2. a lien created or a pecuniary sum paid by order of the court to effect an equitable partition of property (as in divorce) when such a partition in kind would be impossible, impracticable, or prejudicial to one of the parties <an owelty award>
    3. Something unpaid. A debt, for example, is owing while it is unpaid, and Something unpaid. A debt, for example, is owing while it is unpaid, and whether it be due or not.
    4. An Irish leprechaun covered with welts.
Hope you all have a better understanding of 'Owelty' is an use it in your common vernacular.

Here is Owelty in sign language:

Thanks GRANT for this week's word. And feel free to volunteer some of your favorite words for the next Word of the Week.

    Gary

On a day out, a huge shopping spree,
Fred the butler fell down, hurt his knee.
So he asked for some coffee,
    They said, 'weve got toffee',
His reply, said while sad: 'Owelty'

Nice, alan. I also didn't get that right away, but that's cuz i'm a lil' slow. (No offense, styxx!) So my question is, how in the world are u supposed to figure out which meaning someone intends when they use the word "owelty"? (Some people get extremely confused between equality and welt-covered Irish leprechauns.)
