    Arrow -----SoundTrack 'Inferno'-----(Dan.W)

    Hi everyone,

I was browsing the Sibelius software website when i came across a student composition competition.
There were varius catagories including Jazz, classical/comtempary and Film.
There were clips of old(ish) films no longer than a minute each.
I wrote this soundtrack for the clip from a film called 'Inferno' but did not decide to enter the competition.
This is almost all percussive instruments apart from pizz. basses.

You can find the clip with the soundtrack here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f1ufv6lvBU

And the soundtrack here (downloadable only)

    Information about the competition:

    Any comments are welcome.

Hi, I liked the way your music helped to build the tension as I watched the video.
I wonder if the tempo was a little bit faster if it would work better?
Thanks for sharing you work and the links. John

Sorry for not getting to this sooner, Dan; as mentioned
elsewhere I've been so far behind this summer, I'm just
now catching myself on the way back... rofl.

    Just now watched the clip. Very nice job on this, Dan;
very effectively backs up, outlines, and emphasizes the
    video it accompanies.

    All my best,

    David

You posted this one while I was engrossed in a tough Math Class, so I didn't get a chance to hear/see it, so I am glad that David brought it back.

I have a blast putting music to clips like this and I can tell you have as much fun doing it as I do.

    Very nice

    Hey Dan:

Very nice cue here. It's amazing how so many different styles
of writing could fit here. All emphasizing a different part of the
    clip.

Your interpretation seemed very apropos and, I think, would be
accepted by most film directors. In the beginning where the
"hot wiring" is being shown, a sound effects man could make
    that more convincing........

Lastly, I think you should have entered the competition. Really.

    Great job, Dan

That's actually very interesting - a creative departure than most would take on scoring film. I thought it was very effective - not just in building tension but it gave the clip a younger, fun, - "hip" vibe to it.

    Great job!
