    Yamaha NS10Ms???

I've been looking to buy monitors for a while now, and everyone raves about the Yamaha NS10Ms. I found someone close to me willing to sell me a pair for $300. Assuming that they are in good shape, do you think this is a good deal. Thanks everyone.

these monitors are a great tool to have, but you should do plenty of research on them before you make them your main monitors. I personally have never used them, but most people i know who do, use them as a second pair of speakers, for instance, to test out their mix. because they more closely emulate a set of stereo speakers. It is for this purpose, i believe, that they are considered the best. that's about all i know.

thanks for the input so far. i am a little nervous to get them just because they will probably be my only monitors, because i don't really have enough money to buy more after that. i'll also need to buy some sort of amp to power them, and this will probably be a big chunk of money as well. i guess its just time for deep reflection into my soul and being...

    Re: Yamaha NS10Ms???

I used Yamaha NS-10Ms for years with an old (good) pioneer amp. I now use the Mackie HR824s which I swear by.

$300 is a good deal for the NS10Ms. I also used Klipsch Heresies as my "B" speakers with the Yamahas.

Be aware that the low end on my NS10Ms was not a full spectrum. Listen, if possible, before you buy!
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is.
