Smile Shadow of an Angel (feat. The Trumpet)

    Hi guys,

I recently finished a shorty to capture the beauty of The Trumpet in a film like context. Actually, there are already a bunch of good examples, so this one includes some dreamy, melancholic sweeping lines and The Trumpet, playing the lead.

    Feedback is much appreciated.
    Have fun listening.

well surely good to be amongst the first to post demos... that thing is truly amazing... I must check it out.... the only problem is for us it sounds amazing... for most its a trumpet embedded in a pad... and so either they say its cheesy, or they dont like trumpet and say its cheesy...

so the truth its only realy a breakthrough for us programmers, composers, producers... but not a problem i love it anyway... playing the trumpet without being able to play the trumpet... works for me... no soar lips, no spit on the ground, no blood vessels bursting trying to hit those high notes...

    Audun,
I really appreciate your comments here. No, Save the Egg doesn't include live orch - it's all virtual. I'm going to add some new projects with live orchestral recordings to my website, soon. Matter of time ...

For Shadow of an Angel, I used
    Strings: VSL Appassionata I
Brass: EWQLSO, Sample Modeling Trumpet, VSL Epic Horns
    Percussion: True Strike, EWQLSO
    Choirs: VSL Sopranos
    Sound FX: EVOLVE, Stylus RMX

After composing I added SSL Channel One on Strings and Brass, Altiverb almost everywhere, SSL Compressor on the Trumpet to add some punch and presence - and the final master bus includes a Low-Bandpass EQ, X3 Multiband Comp, SSL Comp, Sonnox TransMod (this really adds magic to percussive sounds), Sonnox Inflator and finally Sonnox Limiter.

    Hope that helps.
