To the Steinway team,
I think I've found an anomaly in the sound for the Close microphone position. Please regard F#3 (minor 10th below middle C). The attack portion of this sample makes it sound as if the string were partially damped, or that there might be a problem with the contact point of the hammer. The sound is more noticeable at mezzo forte and below, and especially on short notes. Playing a quick staccato chromatic line up and down around the area lets the effect stand out.
Can anyone verify this? It's fairly subtle.
