A Little Priest - Sweeney Todd

    Hi All -

It's been over a year, I think since I've posted. I've been working on non-music-based projects. But here is one: "A Little Priest" from Sweeney Todd. I put this together for a friend of mine and I to sing together. While I'm waiting for her to record her part, I have recorded both parts myself (true, my Mrs. Lovett is a bit of a mix of Angela Lansbury and Edith, Archie Bunker's wife :P). All of the instruments are GPO.

    I hope you enjoy!

Great job, Michael. You must have cracked up more than once while recording (BOTH!!) parts. This is one of the funniest songs Sondheim ever wrote and it is fun to hear your excellent rendering.

Indeed, great job. Sweeney Todd is one of my favorite musicals, and this song is one of my favorite songs. It is definitely the funniest song Sondheim has ever written, followed by "Please Hello" from Pacific Overtures (maybe I should arrange and record that one).

Cool Re: A Little Priest - Sweeney Todd

    Hi again, Michael!

    Very professionally executed!

I remember this passage that you are singing from the soundtrack.

Johnny Depp's roll in this movie is really a strange one, but in his case, it's really not the only one, lol.
My favorite movie with Depp is the "Ninth Gate."

You sing very well I must say. My wife who was standing in the kitchen, frying something, she thought it was from the real Sweeney Todd track

    Thanks for sharing!

    Michael,

GREAT JOB!!!You can really "put the song over" in BOTH voices!
Sweeney Todd is also a personal favorite!! A friend of mine from Indiana Univ. did a couple productions as the Beadle.
I also enjoyed the artwork on your site.
    Quite talented, you are!
BTW, I was born in Brooklyn & grew up in Flushing. Lived at 21 W. 70th (6th flor walkup) while playing tuba in various groups in early 1970s.

What a great job on this! Wonderful!

My heavens, Michael, I doubt I've ever heard a
better Mrs. Lovett, for one thing. And the whole
production is first rate, end to end.

    Loved it!

Made me hungry for some reason, though...

    My best,

Thanks so much, everyone! Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Fredrik - Definitely not a new level of strangeness for Mr. Depp .

KeithW - I agree - no one is better than Sondheim - especially at writing lyrics - AMAZING!

snorlax - I'm in Elmhurst - not that far from Flushing, actually (just have to walk through the park) . I love Queens! Wow - I think you're the first person to take a look at my site - thanks! I'm actually re-working it to update the portfolio.

etLux - he he he - thanks - I'm glad you liked the Lovett.
