    Inexpensive Finale 2009

    I am building a new system and will be purchasing Finale 2009. Recently I saw several ads such as Computer Music Shop selling the software for $389.99 - a $210.00 savings. Has anyone dealt with this company (or others) and can vouch for them? The ad assures that the software is not academic version or just an upgrade.

    But it seems almost too good to be true - hence my concern.

    I've seen Finale 2009 around for as little as $348.95;
    the price showing at this writing, here:
    http://www.studica.com/products/prod...roductid=57500

    I've seen it a number of other places for $389, as well,
    wandering around the 'net. A little time spent on Google
    or shopping aggregator sites is worth it for turning up
    best price.

    The one thing you do have to be clear on is that that is
    the standard version (that is, not the "academic" version;
    which sells for substantially less, but for which I believe
    Finale requires proof that you're a student or teacher).

    That specific store I can't say I've dealt with... though
    I haven't heard anything adverse concerning them.

    Hope that helps a little, Tom.

    Best,

    David

    Thank you, David. I am glad to hear that the prices being quoted are realistic and common.

    Also, I noticed some use the phrase Finale 2009 standard, and Finale 2009 Pro - is there a difference between the two?

    Tom,

    So far as I know there is only *one* version of Finale 2009;
    regardless of what it's called.

    There are two areas of difference:

    1.)
    Whether you're purchasing the product new or as an upgrade
    to your existing version (the upgrade, of course, is substantially
    cheaper; and Finale does, I think, also offer "cross-grades" from
    other notation products).

    2.)
    Whether you're buying as a professional of some kind -- or as a
    student, teacher, or church, etc.

    But in all cases, the product itself is the same.

    You can get the general gist of all that from their pricelist page,
    here:

    Best,

    David

    Well, thanks to the information provided by members I ordered Finale 2009 today. My new computer system will be delivered in 2 weeks. I find myself pacing a lot of late.
