    Hey Gary,

A great balance of singularity and melody weaving.
Has a bit of a mischievous feel!
Has, at times, a more modern disjointed sound then beautifully comes together harmonically ... briefly. A great interplay between all instruments.

    Well done!

    Hi Gary,

Really nice job of creating a three-way conversation... each voice individual and divergent, but also converging at just the "right places" for a well grounded sense of coherence. You certainly have a grasp for the idiomatic characteristics of each instrument.

The only suggestion I have is just in the mixing/rendering aspect; the flute seemed a bit "hot" and up front in the mix compared to the clarinet and bassoon, and distorted now and then on both my monitors and headphones.

Very creative and well-conceived piece, Gary!

    Thanks for listening, Danny.
It still seems like playback is sometimes unpredictable.
I have mostly set the reverb & ignored other settings.
    Gary

Danny, you need to listen to the final (?) version of my sax solo.
    It's on pg 2 now.

I am impressed with the sound realism. The instruments treatment is very skilful. The differents voices are quite eloquents too, very counterpointistic. I wish you the best in the competition.

This is a very nice weaving you have composed here.

A little bit of harmony, ( which can sometimes get boring) and a good chunk of counterpoint which is rarely boring.

    Very nice

    Gary:

Very clear rendering. The composition sounds like a winner
    for a fairy-tale soundtrack. I keep thinking "tip-toeing" through
the woods or something like that.

Definite change of rhythm around the 1m16s mark. Gets the
listener's attention. Nice close for first section.

Great contrast between staccato first section and second
movement. Silence in spots enhances the forward movement
of the piece (also saves ink on printout.....lol).

Playful Bassoon to start the third movement. Nice interaction
with the clarinet. Although contemporary, one doesn't get the
idea that they are listening to something dissonant. That's a
    significant point, Gary.

A nice buildup for the ending. A lot of energy with everyone
    making their last appearance.

Very nicely done conversation in this, Gary! Thoroughly
enjoyed this one, marvelous interplay as the lines are
traded back and forth... very well handled.

Good luck with the competition -- this one seems like
a contender, to me... a strong suite, well done.

    My best,
